De 22 a 29 de agosto de 2026, a Costa Vicentina recebe a 4ª edição do "Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest", organizado pel'O Corvo e a Raposa — Associação Cultural, estrutura apoiada pelo Município de Vila do Bispo. COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest é um projeto de divulgação da música historicamente informada no Barlavento Algarvio, numa perspetiva dialética entre a música antiga como potenciadora de diálogo intercultural e intertemporal entre a Ibéria e o Mundo, e entre o passado e o presente.From 22 to 29 August 2026, the Costa Vicentina will host the 4th edition of the Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest, organised by O Corvo e a Raposa — Associação Cultural, supported by the Municipality of Vila do Bispo. The COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest is a project dedicated to promoting historically informed music in the western Algarve (Barlavento Algarvio), exploring early music as a bridge for intercultural and intertemporal dialogue, between Iberia and the world, and between the past and the present.

COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest é um projeto de divulgação da música historicamente informada no Barlavento Algarvio, envolvendo músicos profissionais nacionais e internacionais, numa perspetiva dialética entre a música antiga como potenciadora de diálogo intercultural e intertemporal. Para 2025, mantivemos a parceria estratégica com Município de Vila do Bispo e avançámos com propostas em parceria com o Município de Aljezur / Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aljezur, com o apoio da CCDR I.P e Fortaleza de Sagres / Museus e Monumentos EPE.The COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest brings to the Algarve national and international professional musicians whose specialised historical perspective explores and demonstrates the many cross-cultural influences of this early music. We hear the musical connections between the West and the East, between Europe and Asia, and between the past and the present. For 2025, we extended the strategic partnership with the Vila do Bispo Municipality to the partnership with Aljezur Municipality / Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aljezur, and Fortaleza de Sagres / Sagres Fortress (Museums and Monuments).
A 1.ª Edição aconteceu em agosto 2021, na Ermida de N. Senhora da Guadalupe, Vila do Bispo, com a estreia de 5 residências artísticas de músicos nacionais e internacionais, oriundos de Portugal, Turquia e México, e a 2.ª Edição, em agosto 2024, iniciou uma nova parceria estratégica com o Município de Vila do Bispo, estreando 2 residências artísticas com músicos de Portugal, Espanha e Itália.The 1st Edition took place in August 2021, at the Ermida de N. Senhora da Guadalupe, Vila do Bispo, with the debut of 5 artistic residencies by national and international musicians from Portugal, Turkey and Mexico, and the 2nd Edition, in August 2024, began a new strategic partnership with the Vila do Bispo Municipality, debuting 2 artistic residencies with musicians from Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Entre 2021 e 2024, O Corvo e a Raposa, promotora deste projeto e sedeada na Raposeira, Vila do Bispo, manteve o seu foco no desenvolvimento da música historicamente informada em Portugal, nomeadamente música medieval (Ensemble Med, Encontro de Música Medieval Caminho Português de Santiago em Ponte de Lima, Na Rota do Peregrino), associada também ao diálogo intercultural e à percussão histórica (Encontros Med, Idanha-a-Nova, desde 2018). É também fundamental a relação com espaços históricos, destacando a belíssima Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Raposeira, Vila do Bispo), com um trabalho continuado d’O Corvo desde “Dias das Virgens Negras” ao abrigo do programa de Dinamização e Valorização dos Monumentos da Direção Regional de Cultura do Algarve (2018-2023) e continuado na 1.ª Edição deste Festival (2021), assim como agora na Igreja (Matriz) de N. Sra. da Conceição, Vila do Bispo, desde 2024 e agora Igreja da Misericórdia de Aljezur e Fortaleza de Sagres, desde 2025.During this hiatus, between 2021 and 2024, O Corvo e a Raposa, the promoter of this project and based in Raposeira, Vila do Bispo, maintained its focus on the development of historically informed music in Portugal, namely medieval music (Ensemble Med, Portuguese Way of St James Medieval Music Meeting in Ponte de Lima, On the Pilgrim’s Route), also associated with intercultural dialogue and historical percussion (Encontros Med, Idanha-a-Nova, since 2018). The relationship with historic spaces is also fundamental, highlighting the beautiful Hermitage of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Raposeira, Vila do Bispo), with ongoing work by O Corvo since ‘Dias das Virgens Negras’ under the Algarve Regional Directorate for Culture’s Monuments Dynamisation and Enhancement programme (2018-2023) and continued in the 1st Edition of this Festival (2021), as well the Church of N. Sra. da Conceição, Vila do Bispo, since 2024 and since 2025, the Igreja da Misericórdia de Aljezur and Fortaleza de Sagres.

A 3.ª edição teve lugar de 16 a 24 de agosto de 2025. O concerto de abertura aconteceu com Noa Noa Ensemble (Filipe Faria, Tiago Matias e Baltazar Molina) a 16 de agosto pelas 18:00 na Igreja (Matriz) de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Vila do Bispo, tendo como foco a música ibérica entre a ancestralidade e contemporaneidade, com o programa “Língua”. Às 11h00, no mesmo espaço, dando lugar à aula aberta sobre instrumentos antigos de corda dedilhada, com Tiago Matias. Noa Noa Ensemble apresentou-se também a 17 de agosto pelas 16:00, na Igreja de Misericórdia de Aljezur, numa extensão da parceria com o Município de Aljezur e Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aljezur e o apoio da CCDR I.P. COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest encerrou a 23/24 de agosto na Fortaleza de Sagres - Museus e Monumentos de Portugal E.P.E, num fim-de-semana dedicado ao Dia Internacional em Memória do Tráfico de Escravos e da sua Abolição. Iniciou com concerto do Ensemble AntiQuorum (Ana Sousa, Nuno de Mendonça Raimundo et al) dia 23 de agosto, 17:00, apostando na música ibérica da época da expansão marítima e terminou dia 24 de agosto, domingo, com uma oficina/performance dirigida por Ana Celorico Machado pelas 14:00 e uma palestra de Nuno de Mendonça Raimundo (CESEM) pelas 16:00, encerrando assim a 3.ª Edição.
From 16 to 24 August 2025, the Costa Vicentina hosted the 3rd edition of the Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest, organised by O Corvo e a Raposa – Associação Cultural in strategic partnership with the Municipality of Vila do Bispo. For 2025, the opening concert will feature Noa Noa Ensemble (Filipe Faria, Tiago Matias and Baltazar Molina) on 16 August at 6pm in the main church (Igreja Matriz) of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Vila do Bispo, focused on Iberian music between ancestry and contemporaneity, with the programme ‘Língua’. At 11:00 am, in the same space, there was an open class on historical plucked string instruments, with Tiago Matias. Noa Noa Ensemble performed on 17 August at 4 pm at the Church of Misericórdia de Aljezur, as part of an extension of the partnership with the Municipality of Aljezur and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aljezur, with the support of CCDR I.P. COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest ended on the weekend of 23rd and 24th August at the Fortaleza de Sagres - Museus e Monumentos de Portugal E.P.E, dedicated to the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. It started with a concert by the Ensemble AntiQuorum (Ana Sousa, Nuno de Mendonça Raimundo et al) on 23rd August at 5 p.m., focusing on Iberian music from the era of maritime expansion, and ended on 24th August, Sunday, with a workshop/performance directed by Ana Celorico Machado at 2:00 pm and a lecture by Nuno de Mendonça Raimundo (CESEM) at 4:00 pm, thus closing the 3rd Edition.
A II Edição teve lugar de 24 a 31 Agosto 2024, na Igreja Matriz de Vila do Bispo, em parceria com o Município de Vila do Bispo e com o apoio Diocese do Algarve | Paróquia Raposeira e Vila do Bispo e Antena2. Nos últimos dois sábados de agosto, às 18h, a Igreja Matriz de Vila do Bispo foi palco de 2 concertos, que lhe devolveram a sonoridade dos instrumentos antigos, pela mão de artistas que trabalham os cordofones históricos, nomeadamente a nyckelharpa ou viola d’amore a chiavi e a viola da gamba. Nesta II Edição, o foco foi a promoção de ensembles com novos projetos, frutos de residências artísticas realizadas no âmbito do festival.
Em paralelo aos concertos, o “Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest” trouxe também 2 aulas abertas, dedicadas às temáticas dos concertos do ensemble respetivo, que acontecem na Igreja Matriz de Vila do Bispo, nos dias 24 e 31 Agosto, às 10h.
The II Edition took place from 24 to 31 August 2024 at the Igreja Matriz of Vila do Bispo, in partnership with the Vila do Bispo Municipality and with the support of the Diocese of the Algarve | Raposeira and Vila do Bispo Parish and Antena2. On the last two Saturdays of August, at 6pm, the Igreja Matriz of Vila do Bispo was the stage for two concerts that brought back the sound of early music instruments, by the hand of artists who work with historical chordophones, namely the nyckelharpa or viola d'amore a chiavi and the viola da gamba.
In this second edition, the focus was on promoting ensembles with new projects, the fruit of artistic residencies organised as part of the festival. Alongside the concerts, the ‘Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest’ also brought two open classes, dedicated to the themes of the respective ensemble concerts, which also took place Igreja Matriz of Vila do Bispo on the 24th and 31st August at 10am.
A I Edição teve lugar dia 31 de julho e todos os sábados de agosto de 2021 pelas 16h00, devolvendo a sonoridade dos instrumentos antigos à Ermida de N. Sra. de Guadalupe, Raposeira, Vila do Bispo, Algarve. Em paralelo aos concertos presenciais, o “Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest” traz também a difusão online via facebook O Corvo e a Raposa, por ocasião do Dia Mundial da Música, que se celebra anualmente a 1 de Outubro de 2021, lançando cada um dos 5 Concertos, em cada uma das Sextas-feiras desse mês. A 1.ª Ed. foi financiada pelo Programa Garantir Cultura, com parceiro institucional República Portuguesa - Ministério da Cultura e o apoio da Direção Regional de Cultura do Algarve e Antena2.
This first edition of the Festival took place on Saturday July 31st and thereafter on every Saturday during August 2021 at 4.00 pm, bringing back the sounds of historical instruments to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, located near Raposeira, Vila do Bispo, whose concerts were soon fully booked, to the limits of the places available in the Chapel.
In parallel to the concerts, the ‘Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest’ will also bring online streaming of total and partial concerts, via facebook O Corvo e a Raposa, on the occasion of International Music Day, celebrated every year on the 1st October, presenting each of the 5 Concerts, on each Friday of the month.
The 1st edition was funded by the Garantir Cultura programme, with the Portuguese Republic - Ministry of Culture as institutional partner and with the support of the Algarve Regional Directorate for Culture and Antena2.
